So...my life has been all-consumed by this Toyota project I've been working on. We're doing this 12 city roadshow of DIY/crafty workshops and parties, all FREE and pretty fucking rad, I must say. There are free mp3s, an e-shop (partnered with Buy Olympia), DIY How-Tos on the website... Check it out.

Last week I was in Boston and this week the tour comes to NY. There will be clinics at McCarren Park and in Thompkins Sq and some more party type events at Monkey Town in Williamsburg and Fat Baby on the LES. Check out the Events section for the full itinerary.

Last night was our (Insound's) pre-Siren's Shorts Extravganza at Supreme Trading. Everybody had a good time letting their knees breathe, drinking free sparks and cheap beer (and Jaeger) and dancing to the Creature DJs and guest DJ Fluxblog. (Meredith and I totally started the dance par-tay!) But at the end of the night, Joe's head and my face accidentally collided...there was a cracking sound. I think I broke my nose. Uhhh... Beginning Thursday that is...
Andy, Joe, Sarah Nack and I went to see Jaime DJ at Last Exit. An iced-down bucket of 8 Miller High Life for $16. Not too shabby. (It is, after all, the champagne of beers.)

Got very very boozey that night. Ended up at Savalas for Mad Suspect. Had a super rad time dancey-dancing. We stayed until they kicked us out. Then Joe and I were way hyped up so Patrick took pity on us and invited us to this party. Hung out there for a while just chillin, eating canteloupe and grapes. Decided to leave and get breaky at Kellogs. Place was packed at 5:30am, couldn't tell if people were just getting up or had been out all night. We ate cheese omelettes. In bed by 6:30am at that, my friends, was my weekend. Good times.

Home for a funeral...

To anyone who's wondering where I disappeared to...

I've had to travel home to Maryland for a funeral. One of my closest friend's brother was murdered last Friday as a result of road rage. This guy thought he cut him off, so he followed him in his car, and when her brother stopped he came over and stabbed him in the throat through the window. This is a shock to everyone, as you can imagine. The first murder in her town in 23 years. Her brother was only 23-yrs-old. My friend was very brave today at the viewing, greeting everyone on behalf of their family. I felt so helpless like there was nothing I could say that would help.

The funeral is tomorrow morning. I'll be back on Thursday...

Last Night's Creature at Sapphire!

Last night we swung by Wowch's free pizza/$2 Tecate party at Heather's bar after work. Music was awesome (I <3>

Matt Wowch suggeted I try salt on the rim of my beer can...was different, good, but definitely made me even thirstier, therefore causing me to drink even more beers...

Andy brought a copy of Time Out...Creature made their weekly listings!

Then we walked to Local 138, had a few pints and got to Sapphire a little before 10pm so the boys could set-up for Creetch!

People started trickling in and by midnight or so the place was pretty crowded. Some ladies were doing CRAAAZY full-body, interpretive style moves on the dance floor. I wish I had taken a picture! I danced for the most part, solo, by the DJ booth. I just wasn't in the mood for conversation. Had. to. dance! Here are some pho-tos:

Around 1-ish I swung by Cake Shop to check out Blair & James' new dance party, but the band was running late and I was so tired, I only heard Blair spin one song before it was time for this girl to get in a cab and go home. On my way out I saw ex-roommate Chuck Bettis in front of the place. His band, Measles, Mumps, Rubella had played earlier in the night. I yelled at him from my cab. Small world!

So my friend, Shara, came across this video with interview clips of yours truly, from SxSW. I give my very learn-ed opinion on UK band, The Brakes. (It was the first time I heard them.) I totally don't remember what they were like and only vaguely recall being interviewed...the constant influx of beer that weekend made my memory a bit fuzzy.

The weirdest thing is seeing myself on video. Apparently I talk out of the side of my mouth?! WTeff? Who knew?

Weekend in Review...

Ok, work is crazy busy (big Toyota project AND Virgin Mobile scene empowerment roundtables) so no time to play on the blog...still, here is a quick sum up of my weekend.

Saturday went to FIXED party at Don Hill's. It wasn't too crowded, which I kind of loved since there was more room to get my dance on...

Saturday afternoon I went to a BBQ with my roommate, Rebecca, in Williamsburg. Lots of hot, smart, arty lesbians and their friends. Rebecca made...sorry, assembled prosciutto wrapped peach slices which were damn tasty.

I used the flashlight to interogate people as they left the party. Any by interogate I mean I flashed it in their faces and yelled, "CONFESS!" Then we went back to Nicole's, ordered mozzarella sticks and tater tots, drank more beer and fell asleep at around 6:30 or so watching Batman Begins. I got about 2 hours of sleep and then met Rebecca for brunch at Enid's. The rest of the day was too boring to even blog about.

Friday Night is Ladies Night! Yeooow

Continuing on my late night partying streak, Friday I was off to see Foreign Islands open for White Rose Movement at Bowery Ballroom with Erin. We were running a little late and decided to splurge for a car service car. We were picked up by hot Latina in a mini-van. (Suprising, pleasantly so.) Too bad she mistook Bowery for Verrick and we ended up somewhere on the west side with only minutes before FI went on. Doink! Then when we got out of the cab we started walking in the wrong direction (because we're retarded). Double doink! So we only caught the last three songs or so, but they fucking rocked and considering I thought we were going to miss them completely...well, it could have been worse.

We watched the other opening band, The Five O'Clock Heroes play. They sounded pretty tight. White Rose Movement was good too, but for whatever reason I just wasn't feeling it as much, so we went to the downstairs bar to get drinks. Since they didn't have red bull and I was feeling the effects of the past two nights, I splurged (again) and got some $12 energy drink/vodka combo that tasted like fizzy orange Tang. Kind of tasty and came in a big plastic cup.

That's when we took some pics and decided to play around with the exposure setting on my camera for some trippy effects. (Oooh, red lights are arty.)

Then we got lost walking to the after-party at Annex. (DOINK!)

Got a few more not-so-excellent shots before my battery died. I would like to give a shout-out to Eamon Harkin of Calling All Kids and Crashin' In who was murder incarnate! Such a rad DJ! Also, Dean, you are an excellent driver. Thanks for not killing us. P.S. Steve says hi.
